Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis maintained his perfect record against Robredo, when the World No. 95 beat the second-seeded Spaniard 7-5, 6-2 in 78 minutes for a place in the second round. Baghdatis, who reached the Queen’s Club second round last week (l. to Youzhny), hit five aces and won 75 per cent of his service points to improve to 3-0 lifetime over No. 15-ranked Robredo – a three-time former semi-finalist at the ATP World Tour 250 grass-court tennis tournament.
In Eastbourne, Janko Tipsarevic reached QFs after beating australian qualifier B. Klein in straight sets. Janko will face G. Garcia Lopez tomorrow.
