Verdasco - Karlovic today at Wimbledon: It's time to return Fer...

Fernand On his way through to the fourth round at Wimbledon, Ivo Karlovic has fired down 102 aces and not been broken once in 56 service games. It’s no wonder he is the man that no-one wants to come up against in the second week of The Championships.

Gisela upset russian superstar Maria Sharapova in Wimbledon second round!

Tecnifibre player Gisela Dulko upset russian superstar Maria Sharapova yesterday in Wimbledon 2nd round 6/2 3/6 6/4. It is the biggest win ever for Gisela against former champion Sharapova. Gisela plays with new Rebound Pro racket and X-One Biphase string but also new Rebound Pro 9R bag.

'S-Hertogenbosch - Eastbourne: Baghdatis upset seed n°2, Janko reaches QFs

Marcos Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis maintained his perfect record against Robredo, when the World No. 95 beat the second-seeded Spaniard 7-5, 6-2 in 78 minutes for a place in the second round. Baghdatis, who reached the Queen’s Club second round last week (l. to Youzhny), hit five aces and won 75 per cent of his service points to improve to 3-0 lifetime over No. 15-ranked Robredo – a three-time former semi-finalist at the ATP World Tour 250 grass-court tennis tournament. 

In Eastbourne, Janko Tipsarevic reached QFs after beating australian qualifier B. Klein in straight sets. Janko will face G. Garcia Lopez tomorrow.

The tour moves onto grass at Queens

The grass court season gets under way the day after the French Open finals. 4 of our main touring pros played at the Aegon Championships at the Queens Club in London (ATP 250 event).

Players

J. Tipsarevic (TFight 325/Blackcode) lost first round against a dangerous and talented grass court qualifier N. Mahut in front of a late afternoon Centre Court crowd.

D. Istomin (Tfight 325/Xone+Redcode) squeezed throught his first round before falling to F. Lopez in 3 sets.

K. Vliegen (Tfight 325/Xone) fought through  his first round match before losing a tough second round match on Centre court against A. Roddick.

M. Baghdatis (TFlash 315/Xone) cruised throught his first round encounter against a British wildcard in front of a packed Centre court crowd before stumbling to 13th seed M. Youzhny in the second round in damp conditions.

The grass court season carries on with players either moving onto the tournaments at Eastbourne or Rosmalen or getting a good week of preparation at Wimbledon from this weekend.

Janko Tipsarevic, Kristof Vliegen, Marcos Baghdatis and Denis Istomin are in London to play Queen's tournament this week. Only Janko has been defeated in the 1st round, others have advanced into the 2nd. 

In Halle, Fernando Verdasco faces P. Petzschner  today.

Young Australian tennis star under contract with Tecnifibre in newspapers

Zoe Barton started her career 4 years ago when she was given a tennis lesson for her birthday.

Over the last 3 months the worst result she has had is quarter finalists in every singles tournament she has entered.

She won the under 12’s girls division of the Hunter Valley Junior Grasscourt Championship at Singleton.

She is ranked number 1 girl player in the Hunter region for the last 2 years.

Attended the NSW Primary School Sports Association and won every match and even beating Sydney’s number 1 player.

Has been picked in a squad of 7 girls to attend the NSW PSSA championships in Adelaide.

Her latest performances have helped her earn an overall Australian ranking of 787.

Hopefully she will become something special for Tecnifibre in the future!
